Discipline
Your strategy passed the eval. You didn't.
Most failed evals die to the same three behaviors — revenge re-entries, uncounted trades, and the loss limit met at full speed. All three are boring to fix.
The post-mortem is always the same
Trades planned: 2. Trades taken: 7. Rule breaks: 4. Edge: fine. If your last three failed evals share that shape, the next eval fee isn't buying you a new chance — it's buying the same movie again.
Evals select for discipline, not edge
A funded account pays out over months of staying inside the rules. The eval is a compressed test of exactly the thing tilt destroys: your ability to stop. That's why traders with genuinely profitable systems fail them repeatedly — the test isn't measuring the system.
Boring fixes, applied at the right second
Hard trade count. Loss limit called at 70% and 90%, not discovered at 100%. A cooldown after consecutive losses. A voice that names revenge in the window. None of this is clever — it just has to happen during the session instead of in the journal after it.
“Down $400. That's your limit — the one you set. Shut it down. Today is over. There's nothing left to prove.”
